Topic
In his lecture, “Brexit and the Challenges for the EU: learning lessons from a fragile European”, Professor N.P. Ludlow (LSE) will discuss the complex relationship between the UK and continental Europe within the framework of the European integration process. He will interrogate the traditional narrative of an “awkward partnership” as well as offer his thoughts on how the EU should avoid a recurrence of the discomforts produced by Brexit.
About the lecturer
Professor N.P. Ludlow is the Head of the History Department at the London School of Economics and a leading historian and expert in the field of Western Europe since 1945, in particular the historical roots of the European integration process and the development of the EU.

This event is organized by the Research Group Political History of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) and the Social Science Program at Amsterdam University College (AUC). Dr. Ronald Kroeze (VU), Associate Professor of Political History, will open and chair the session. Dr. Alessandra Bitumi (VU), Assistant Professor of Political History, will act as moderator.
